  • Share

As we kick off the first week of the New Year, we wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on the highlights of 2018. Of the dozens of posts that appeared on the Schumacher Clinical Partners (SCP) blog throughout 2018, measuring provider productivity, management strategies, the opioid epidemic, and improving patient experience topped off the list.

We anticipate hearing more on these hot topics in 2019 as well. For now, we feel these five blogs deserve an encore due to their popularity. Here they are, in order of views, from greatest to least:

Using RVUs to Measure Provider Productivity

While the primary focus of an Emergency Medicine physician is the accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment of acute medical conditions, they can also play a part in stemming the tide of opioid addiction.

So what steps can ED providers take to turn the tide of the national opioid crisis? Patrick Zelley, M.D., ABEM, a practicing physician and Regional Medical Officer with SCP, offers this advice…Read More >>

5 Ways ED Clinical Providers Can Improve Patient Experience

As a clinician, there are two excellent reasons you should improve your patient experience skills: Patients demand it, and payors reward it. Optimizing the use of programs and tools available to you, as well as simple behaviors that demonstrate respect for the patient can go a long way in improving the overall patient experience.

SCP shares five simple recommendations for turning the concept of improved patient experience into a practical reality. Read More >>

6 Benefits of Working in a Rural ED

Hospitals and healthcare providers across the U.S. are facing a severe shortage of qualified doctors. Nowhere is the shortage more pronounced than in rural areas where nearly 20 percent of the U.S. population lives but only ten percent of physicians practice.

The reasons for the shortfall may range from physician reluctance to give up the creature comforts of urban areas for the more limited amenities found in small towns, to the fear of burnout due to the increased workload, to the stigma that doctors in rural areas aren’t as competent as their urban complement.

Regardless, the need for emergency medicine physicians has never been greater. SCP outlines six benefits you can accrue by working in a rural ED that could entice providers to search for opportunities in smaller community areas. Read More >>
