Home » Meet Ken Heinrich, MD
Dr. Kenneth Heinrich is a board-certified emergency physician whose career spans every corner of American emergency medicine — from 24-hour solo coverage in rural critical access hospitals to urban Level 1 trauma centers across seven states. As Chief Medical Officer for Emergency Medicine at SCP Health, he oversees clinical operations, quality, and innovation for 350+ programs and 5,000+ clinicians nationwide.
Before medicine, Dr. Heinrich led large-scale youth programs and facilitated therapeutic teams in psychiatric care — experiences that shaped his servant leadership philosophy and his belief that lasting change comes through connection, not authority. That foundation, combined with more than two decades of frontline clinical practice, informs everything about how he leads today.
Dr. Heinrich is a passionate advocate for rethinking how emergency care is delivered — championing virtual health and AI integration as a genuine paradigm shift that can improve patient flow, extend professional longevity for clinicians, and deliver better outcomes for patients. He has lectured at national conferences and hospitals nationwide on process improvement, operational efficiency, and the future of emergency medicine.
Dr. Heinrich received his Doctor of Medicine from Rush Medical College in Chicago and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Illinois. He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Physician leadership and development
I believe we're entering a transformational time for emergency medicine. Through virtual health and AI, we can change the paradigm of care delivery—improving patient flow, increasing professional longevity for clinicians, and delivering better results for patients. But transformation doesn't happen without connection. Family and community have always been everything to me, and that shapes how I lead today. It's not just about individual experiences; it's about the relationships we build and the collective vision we create together.
