SCP Health | Advocating for a Better Tomorrow

Health care advocacy seeks to impact the environment where we deliver care by simplifying care delivery, reducing friction, and creating a pathway for a better future. Together, we can make a difference.

Why We Advocate

SCP Health is committed to impacting meaningful change to our health care system through strategic action. Using our knowledge and expertise, we advocate for our patients, our clinicians, and the communities we serve.

We promote policies and practices that:

  • Support the delivery of high-quality,
    patient-centered care
  • Create and maintain a safe and constructive
    clinical practice environment
  • Ensure economically sustainable practices

Health Care Advocacy Issues

We work to make an impact on issues that directly impact the broader health care system, such as:

The Dr. Lorna
Breen Act

Legislation aimed at reducing burnout, preventing suicide, and improving mental health for health care workers through funding for treatment, prevention, and education.

Health Care Workplace Safety

Initiatives to protect health care workers from violence, enhance security measures in health care settings, and establish stronger penalties for those who assault medical professionals.

No Surprises Act

Consumer protection legislation that prevents patients from receiving unexpected medical bills while also providing a mechanism for practices to resolve payment disputes with payors.

ED Boarding Crisis

Addressing the practice of holding admitted patients in the emergency department for extended periods of time, which impacts patient care, emergency department efficiency, and clinician stress.

Telehealth Modernization Act

Legislation to extend COVID-era flexibilities, permanently expanding access to telehealth services, removing geographic restrictions, and ensuring coverage parity for virtual health care visits.

Medicare Physician Fee Schedule

Addressing short-term and long-term Medicare payment policies for physician services, which impacts fair reimbursement for clinicians and practice sustainability.

Advocacy Across the Industry

Our clinicians and employees advocate consistently and collaboratively across the health care industry, working at local, regional, state, and federal levels to create a greater impact.  Each day, our advocacy efforts make a significant impact at all levels. Through these initiatives, we actively engage with:
